Why weekends disappoint

Five stars for someone else isn't five stars for you.

A rooftop bar that is “amazing” to someone on their first city trip can be a letdown to someone who books business class. XPMatch starts by understanding your standards, then matches you to experiences people like you actually loved.

Reviews lack context

Every platform gives every reviewer the same five stars. Two honest reviews can be opposites because the reviewers have different reference points.

Popular isn't the same as fit

"Top rated" tells you what the crowd liked. It can't tell you whether someone who books the way you book would go back.

Your spending stays private

XPMatch works from broad ranges and expectations, never receipts. The purpose is not to rank people. It's to show you what's relevant to your standards.

How it works

From “what should we do?” to done.

01

Take the 3-minute Fit Score.

Fifteen questions about what you like, how you find things and whether plans actually happen. You get a score, three insights and a private taste profile nobody else can see.

02

Get matched, not ranked.

Every experience gets a fit score against your baseline: the likely strengths, the tradeoffs, and whether people with your standards felt it was worth the money.

03

Plan it with your crew, then actually go.

Invite friends, agree in one chat instead of forty texts, book the first thing, and keep every ticket in one place.

What the Fit Score measures

Measure and improve the three things that decide whether you love your free time.

Fifteen questions. Ten are about habits that predict great weekends. Five tell us what you want next, so the recommendations are yours, not everyone's.

Taste

How well you know what you like

Whether you can name the kinds of experiences you love, what they're worth to you, and what you'd skip next time.

Discovery

How you find things worth doing

Whether you keep a list, trust the right reviews, and look further than your usual three blocks.

Follow-through

How often plans actually happen

Whether weekends get planned, plans get booked, and nothing gets lost between the idea and the door.

Who built this

Compatibility over popularity.

XPMatch grew out of MileMatch, a travel review and comparison concept built on one observation: two honest reviews can be completely different because the reviewers have different reference points. Someone who normally books economy and someone who normally books business class do not mean the same thing by “worth it.”

So instead of ranking you, XPMatch starts with a private baseline, prioritizes reviews from comparable people, and explains where an option fits, where it may fall short and whether people like you felt it was worth the cost.

The research behind the questions

Taste, Discovery and Follow-through are XPMatch's own framework, not a validated psychological instrument. Each area rests on well-replicated findings, and we will refine the questions with beta data.

  • Follow-through. People who decide in advance when and where they will act are far more likely to follow through. A meta-analysis of 94 studies on these "implementation intentions" found a medium-to-large effect. That is why the quiz asks whether your weekend is planned before Friday. Gollwitzer & Sheeran, 2006, Advances in Experimental Social Psychology
  • Discovery. More options do not help. In a classic field study, shoppers offered 24 jams were far less likely to buy than shoppers offered six. A short list you trust beats an endless feed, so the quiz asks whether you keep one. Iyengar & Lepper, 2000, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology
  • Taste. People are surprisingly poor at predicting what they will enjoy and better at remembering what they actually did. Noting what you loved and what you would skip is the cheapest way to learn your own taste, so the quiz asks whether you do. Wilson & Gilbert, 2005, Current Directions in Psychological Science
  • Asking directly. A study of 1,035 travelers found personality relates to travel preferences, but its authors say recommendation models built on personality still need testing. Asking people directly what they like remains the most reliable signal. Alves et al., 2023, User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction
  • Your exact spending is never shown to anyone. The profile uses broad ranges and expectations, not receipts.

What you unlock

Your profile does the filtering.

  • Events that fit your vibe

Concerts, comedy, markets and games near you, ranked by how well they match your profile rather than how loud the promoter is. Get the scoop, make a plan, snag tickets.

  • Import your saved places

Bring the pins you've been hoarding in your maps app. They become a collection you can actually plan from, scored against your standards.

  • Collections

See a place you love? Save it to a collection sorted by city, theme or vibe. Invite friends to add to it and watch that "someday" plan take shape.

  • Start anywhere

Paste a link, a screenshot or a friend's text. XPMatch turns it into a plan in seconds, with the parts that don't fit you flagged.
